30th Anniversary Dancing Chickens Trip

  • Jawbone Canyon Ranger Station 28111 Jawbone Canyon Road Mojave, CA, 93501 United States (map)

April 29 – May 2, 2022

Eastern Sierra Grouse Trip with Mary Freeman

Fee: $70 for 4 days of leading. 8 vehicle max (set by DWP), 6 participant min.

Block off all four days for Mary’s 30th anniversary trip, and be prioritized on the list! We will see Greater Sage-Grouse and Sooty Grouse displaying, Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch at feeders, and Pinyon Jay; hopeful to likely Chukar, Mountain Quail, California Quail, Juniper Titmouse, Sage and LeConte’s thrashers; possible Golden Eagle, American Dipper, Black-backed Woodpecker (rare here), or (dare we hope?) Evening Grosbeak; if the past is any indication.

Meet at 8AM at Jawbone Canyon Ranger Station just off of Hwy 14, north of Mojave. Reserve rooms in Bishop early, as this is the first day of fishing season! New concept: consider sharing the driving, as there will be a lot of it!

To register:

1) Email names and mobile phone numbers to membership@laaudubon.org.

2) Mail a check for $70 per person payable to: Los Angeles Audubon, to: Los Angeles Audubon, PO Box 411301, Los Angeles, CA 90041-8301. No refunds for cancellation after April 14 (soon!). Any net proceeds will go to the Schreiber Grant Fund.
