Planned Giving

become a legacy donor

Ensure Los Angeles Audubon can continue to protect and preserve birds and their habitat for years to come, and inspire the next generation of nature lovers. Make your core values known as a Los Angeles Audubon Legacy Donor by making a planned gift to Los Angeles Audubon. Legacy Donors are generous and forward-thinking individuals and couples who will support our long-term success and be long remembered.

In addition to supporting our work through your generous cash donations, here are other ways you can contribute to the sustainability of our mission in promoting the enjoyment and protection of birds and other wildlife through recreation, education, conservation and restoration.

Retirement Assets and Life Insurance Policy

A gift from your IRA, 401k, 403b, pension or other tax deferred plan is a great way to support our work. Another option may be a life insurance policy if your policy is no longer needed or no longer benefits your survivors.

Over 70 1/2? Consider a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from an IRA. This action can satisfy charitable goals and allows funds to be withdrawn from an IRA without any tax consequences. A QCD can also be appealing because it can be used to satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD).

Stocks and Bonds

Consider a gift of your stocks or bonds and your appreciated securities, and offset your capital gains tax.

Life Income Gifts

Life income gifts allow you to leave a gift in the care of Los Angeles Audubon, while earning income for yourself during your lifetime. The two most popular life income gifts are charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities.

We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor to discuss the tax implications of these options.

Bequests

One of the easiest ways to help involves simply naming Los Angeles Audubon as a beneficiary in your will and living trust. A bequest may be for a particular dollar amount or percentage of your estate. Estate tax savings may be significant.

To name Los Angeles Audubon in your will or trust or by beneficiary designation simply state in those documents: I bequeath ______ (dollar amount or % of estate) to the Los Angeles Audubon Society, Inc., a non-profit organization, P.O. Box 411301, Los Angeles, CA 90041, for its ongoing environmental conservation and education purposes.  Tax ID # 95-6093704.

As a Legacy Donor, you become a special part of the Los Angeles Audubon donor family. Legacy Donors are also honored (with permission) via:

  • Recognition on the Los Angeles Audubon website

  • Tributes in publications such as the Western Tanager newsletter

  • Acknowledgment at special events

Your planned gift will ensure that Los Angeles Audubon can continue in its work to protect and preserve birds and their habitat for years to come, and to inspire the next generation of nature lovers.
