Friday, July 3 to Monday, July 6, 2026

Calendar Link 4th Of July Owl Prowl 2026

We will be leading a Southern Sierra Nevada Owl Prowl July 3-6 Friday to Monday (departure day). Three nights of owling, (and days of birding) SWEEEETTTT!! We have been leading this trip for 20 years or so. If you can’t bear to stay up after midnight, or sleep in a bit, please reconsider.

John Schmitt, illustrator of the National Geographic Field Guide will join us as a co-leader.

We will stay at a rental cabin, all will pitch in for a potluck the first night, and an LAAS sponsored wienie roast the second. Always plenty of leftovers for the third!

Price will be $185 / participant for everything but getting you there, the potluck, and carpooling about. The price for the whole weekend will be considerably less than a room and PB & J’s (and no owls!), and much less than you’d pay for a bird festival!!

Sign up with Susan Castor, susancastor@laaudubon.org. Susan will follow-up to receive your mailed registration fee and will advise when it is in hand. Checks are held for deposit until closer to the event date.

Mail separate checks for each participant to: Los Angeles Audubon Society, P.O. Box 411301, Los Angeles CA 90041-8301. You will receive the itinerary from Mary & Nick Freeman, when you are officially paid for the trip.
