This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 28.

WHITE-WINGED DOVES were at Alta Vista Park in Redondo Beach from August 23-26, at Pt. Dume in Malibu (near the parallel parking access along Cliffside Drive) from August 22-25 and in Rancho Palos Verdes on August 25.

An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER continued at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro through August 21.

Two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued below the Willow Street crossing along the lower Los Angeles River in Long Beach.  They were reported through August 27.

Two more NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued on the wildlife lake island at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve through August 25.

A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was at the Redondo Beach Marina on August 21.

Two more YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS continued at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh through August 26.

A LUCY'S WARBLER was at Creek Park in La Mirada from August 24-25.  It was northeast of the first bridge south of Imperial Highway.

A SUMMER TANAGER was in La Canada on August 21.  

One to two SUMMER TANAGERS continued at Pearblossom Park in the south Antelope Valley through August 25 and another was at O'Melveny Park in Granda Hills on August 23.
