This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for July 26, 2025.
The HOODED MERGANSER at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park continued through July 20.
Up to five BLACK SWIFTS were seen along Cobal Canyon Motorway above Claremont through July 20. Late afternoon and early evening is the time to look for them.
Two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, an adult and a juvenile, were along the lower Los Angeles River at Willow Street in Long Beach on July 26.
A SOOTY TERN was at Dockweiler State Beach in El Segundo on July 22.
A REDDISH EGRET was along the lower Los Angeles River at Willow Street on July 22.
Up to three CALIFORNIA CONDORS continued to be seen at various locations along Ridge Route Road near Castaic through July 21. Google Maps 34.5725, -118.6650. A BALD EAGLE was in the area on July 21.
The continuing SWALLOW-TAILED KITE at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City was seen through July 25. It often prefers the north end of the lake and golf course, but may be seen anywhere in the general area.
The BURROWING OWL continued at the Fish Docks in San Pedro through July 20 near Harbor Blvd. and West 22nd Street.
Several PURPLE MARTINS continued at Chilao Campground near the meadow area through July 19. Three more were at Barley Flats on July 20.
From one to several AMERICAN DIPPERS continued along the Burkhart Trail below Buckhorn Campground through July 24. Google Maps 34.3506, -117.9077.
A SUMMER TANAGER was at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area near the Japanese Garden on July 19.
