This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for July 2.

Two BLACK SWIFTS were reported above Claremont Wilderness Park through June 27.  Late afternoon is the time to look for these birds, often seen along Cobal Canyon Motorway.

A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was at Malibu Lagoon on June 26 and a REDDISH EGRET was there on July 2.

Two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued along the lower Los Angeles River around the island just below Willow Street.

Another NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was on the lake at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve on June 26, and one was at Legg Lake (by the island in the south lake) in South El Monte on June 30.

A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was along the San Gabriel River below the 22 Freeway on June 27.

A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was seen at Malibu Vista along Latigo Canyon Road on June 25.

A SUMMER TANAGER continued at Pearblossom Park in the south Antelope Valley through June 30.
