This is the Los Angeles RBA for August 16, 2026.
A GREATER ROADRUNNER continued by the horse stables along the Los Angeles River in Long Beach through August 14. It has been seen occasionally on the east side of the river above Willow Street.
A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was along the lower Los Angeles River above Willow Street in Long Beach through August 11.
Two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were at Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required for access) on August 10.
Up to six BROWN-CRESTED FLYCATCHERS (including locally fledged juveniles) continued below the Little Rock-Palmdale Dam through August 14. One viewing location is at Google maps 34.4886,-118.0250. There is no vehicle access and you will need to walk the road from the locked gate to this location. Be aware of the adjacent restricted access and construction areas. Avoid entering the riparian habitat and the area near the dam itself.
Up to four SUMMER TANAGERS were at the above location through August 14 and a LUCY’S WARBLER was present on August 14.
A PURPLE MARTIN made a brief appearance along the Los Angeles River at Willow Street in Long Beach on August 16.
A SUMMER TANAGER was at Monrovia Canyon Park through August 9 around the Nature Center parking lot.
Two more SUMMER TANAGERS were at Jalapa Park in Covina on August 10.
